📝 How the checker works
Each ingredient's INCI name is matched against a database of 150+ substances classed as evidence-based actives, hydrators and soothers, UV filters and allergens — chiefly fragrance and the 26 fragrance chemicals EU law requires on the label, plus the preservatives that top dermatology patch-test results (such as MI/MCI and formaldehyde releasers).
Why are some ingredients orange?
They are not allergens in the medical sense, but may be drying (denatured alcohol), clog pores in acne-prone skin, or be best avoided in pregnancy (retinoids).
Limits
We cannot know each ingredient's concentration, and every skin reacts differently. A patch test with a dermatologist is the reliable way to know your allergies.

Frequently asked questions
How do I read a cream's ingredient list?
Ingredients are listed from highest to lowest concentration (above 1%). The first five make up most of the product; those at the end are usually in small amounts.
What are the 26 fragrance allergens?
Fragrance chemicals (e.g. linalool, limonene, geraniol) that must be named on EU packs above a set level, because they are the most common causes of skin allergy.
Is “fragrance-free” the same as “unscented”?
No. Fragrance-free means no added fragrance; unscented may contain a masking scent. For sensitive skin, look for fragrance-free.
Are parabens dangerous?
Parabens are well-studied preservatives that rarely cause allergy, and EU-permitted levels are considered safe.
